A Suggestion to Fix Our Broken Government

Allow any American that wishes to serve in Congress to take a test on their knowledge of the Constitution and the 28 principles of sound government that are discussed in the book, the 5,000 Year Leap. Then take the names of the top 10 candidates in each Congressional District and conduct a lottery to select the Congressional Representatives.

Repeal the 17th Amendment and allow the state legislatures to appoint their own Senators for a one term of six years.

Allow the President to nominate Supreme Court Justices and have them confirmed by two-thirds of the governors of the fifty states.

The Justices of the Supreme Court will be evaluated every four years and will be reappointed with the confirmation of two-thirds of the members of both the House and the Senate.

The members of the House of Representatives will serve for one term of two years in length.  Members of the House and the Senate will receive compensation equal the average salary paid to the average American worker. The will receive no pension other than the benefits paid out of the Social Securtity system.

Please let me know your opinion.

I like your idea. It's obvious to me that most Congressmen have little or no knowledge of the Constitution or they choose to totally disregard the principles that are there to balance the powers of government and protect the liberties of the  citizenry.
