The people of Canyon County have a very important decision to make in choosing who would best serve as their next Sheriff. To help in making that decision, let’s define Constitutionally, what the role of sheriff consists of.
The Declaration of Independence states “We hold these truths self-evident that our Creator endowed us with certain unalienable Rights, Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. To secure these rights, Governments are instituted, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” The pursuit of happiness is defined as the right of ownership & control of property.
Every person has a right to defend his person, his liberty, and his property. The Sheriff is charged with the duty, by consent of the governed, to protect those rights in their behalf; Life, Liberty, and Property. This is the 'primary' defining difference between a Police Chief or Agency Enforcement Chief, and a Sheriff. A police chief is hired by a city counsel to enforce the law and keep peace. An agency enforcement chief is hired by an agency to enforce the law.
I hope the voters of Canyon County will take the opportunity to study the positions of the sheriff candidates. The Press/Tribune forum Wednesday night was very defining. Of my two Republican opponents, one wants to be the Police Chief of Canyon County, and the other wants to be Chief of Enforcement of Canyon County. Both stating they have more experience, yet only understand two of the three primary duties charged to the Sheriff. I would say all candidates understand protecting life, and at least mostly understand protecting property. The missing component is very critical, and that is PROTECTING LIBERTY. Liberty is being free from oppression. Our Liberties are in grave danger. Search out for yourselves; HR3200, (Obamacare) National Defense Authorization Act, (violating nearly all the Bill of Rights) Executive Order EO8248, (among other violations of rights, authorizes compelling of services), HR347, (1st amendment). These are now laws on the books, and my opponents have stated their position being a responsibility to enforce the laws on the books, rather than to defend the people who hire them, from such oppressive unconstitutional laws. With 32 years experience in private business, and 8 years in law enforcement as Reserve Deputy, and my commitment to defend all your unalienable rights, Life, Liberty, and Property, please write in your best option for sheriff, Ed Hendershot.

I have known Ed Hendershot during all this time and I believe he has all the abilities to lead the Canyon County Sheriff's Office with the leadership and management skills to make it the best department in the state. I endorse Ed because he has a vision for what the department can and should be and I know that he is ethical with sound leadership abilities that would benefit all the citizens of the County. Canyon County is lucky to have someone of the caliber of Ed Hendershot, to run for Sheriff.”

I will speak with Mack tonight about having you on one of his programs very soon. We now have over 1000 members in a little over 5 weeks. It would be great if we all saw the beauty of just helping one county at a time to get someone like you elected. I for one would be willing to donate $10 for your campaign. Now, what if all of us did that? A freer Idaho is a freer America. We will be discussing how to help sheriffs in a practical way. If Mack has endorsed you, this goes a long way. However, as much as principles of government are necessary, we also put a great emphasis on moral integrity. Are there people in your county of stature who will vouch for that in you?

I have been a reserve deputy for over 8 years and recently felt moved to run for sheriff in our county in Idaho. I believe our founding fathers assembled a document, our constitution, that was indeed inspired by God. The notion that it needs to live and breathe with change to accommodate current politically environmental situations is no less than a tool used by those very individuals who conspire to destroy and corrupt to propagate agendas that will bring nothing but bad, including bondage under a tyrannical rule. I believe it is critical that we, throughout America turn to our only elected law enforcement in the nation, the county sheriff, to be a man of conviction who will uphold his oath of office to support and defend the constitution, or, it is incumbent upon us to support and insure the election of such individuals throughout this entire country....county by county, every county in every state. This is how we will insure protection of liberty for WE THE PEOPLE.
