C'mon, this is fetching things a bit far. In the first place during the time the Statue was being made as a gift to the United States, once-upon-a-Time when the French liked us, it was a classical and enlightenment era, and it is possible that the artist used classical statuary as a model -- but the picture of our Lady of Liberty is different and was never to represent any such thing as depicted in this portrayal.

Everyone knows what the statue stands for and there is a plaque with words that speak differently then what this depiction describes. Are we now going to look for a conspiracy in the making and presentation of our Lady of Liberty?

Thanks to Benjamin Franklin, France truly was able to get a view and began to respect the newly formed United States, admiring its people and their love of liberty and freedom. The gift was a presentation of honor, and considering how much it cost - quite a gift.

I think we have better things to do than look for conspiracies within conspiracies and start denouncing statuary and so on that dates back when our nation's government was operated like a Republic for which it was created.

I wonder if I am the only one who thinks this.
